The youngest members of the School community come to school eager to learn, play, and form new relationships. Each day the classrooms are filled with discoveries, as students begin to learn about language, numbers and the world around them, all the while developing increased self awareness. The core private school curriculum which includes phonics programme, is also enriched with art, music, physical education, library, and technology instruction. We create an environment rich in games, materials and books which the child can select as interest arises, providing experiences of hand and mind working together for an intelligent purpose.
Children at this age often prefer to work on the floor instead at a table – on rugs or pieces of carpet that can be rolled up when not in use. This marks the workspace just as would a table. In the classroom, we use a variety of colors and shades, plain in design so that the child can focus on his work. Playing with puzzles and blocks, the child learns how to think, concentrate, complete a train of thought and a cycle of activity and solve problems. The child learns to bring the use of his/her body, especially his/her hands, under the control of his/ her will and to be self-disciplined.
